In 2002, the head of the home, Ibu Gubasih, submitted a request for drawing and painting materials for three students (Komang Puspawan, 17 years old and a polio patient, Suadarma and Samuel, who are both 14 years old and deaf), who could use the materials for art lessons to improve their skills. The main aim, apart from the creative aspect as part of their development, is to get a possible future source of income. Drawing and painting are important parts of the culture on Bali and an income can be earned as a painter or illustrator.
The selection of drawing and painting materials that the foundation has donated to make a start consists of 15m of canvas, 21 brushes of various sizes, 6 dozen acrylic paints, pallets, pencils of various hardnesses, sharpeners and sketch pads. All the children at the home have also received a sketch pad and pencils.
During a future visit, there will be an evaluation to see whether further support is desirable and necessary.
