People with a handicap

The target group are people in the poorest sections of the population in Asia who were born with a handicap or developed one later in life.

The APA Foundation (Stichting APA) focuses in particular on younger people, since they are at a time in their lives when they are developing both physically and mentally. The Foundation wants to assist young people in building their own place in society and to develop as well as possible. Those most closely concerned - the family or other carers - are involved in the process, as is the wider social context.

The Foundation retains the right also to offer help to disadvantaged people in a wider sense, if poor health or other circumstances are an obstacle, for example, to following training or looking after themselves.

Otherwise, the APA Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of ethnic background or religion.
